Free two-outcome risk comparison

Hedge bet calculator for stake, profit and loss

Enter an existing fixed-odds bet and the current price on its exact opposite outcome. The calculator shows the second stake that approximately equalizes both results, then makes any balanced profit or loss explicit. A custom hedge stake can be compared too.

Equal-result hedge and comparison

+$50.00 balanced
Equal-result hedge stake$150.00Original gross return ÷ opposite decimal odds
Balanced profit or loss+$50.00Same modeled result if either listed side wins
Total equal-hedge outlay$250.00Original stake plus required second stake
Balanced return on outlay+20.00%Modeled result ÷ total committed amount
Original gross return$300.00Original stake included if it wins
Original profit with no hedge$200.00Maximum modeled profit before adding the second stake
Equal hedge stake used below$150.00Calculated equal-result amount
If the original side wins+$50.00Original profit minus the second stake
If the opposite side wins+$50.00Hedge profit minus the original stake

Equal-result formula: second stake = original stake × original decimal odds ÷ opposite decimal odds. The modeled minimum with the displayed comparison stake is $50.00.

A balanced hedge can lock in profit, break even or lock in loss

Equalizing both sides does not create value. It redistributes an existing position by committing more money to the opposite outcome. If the original price moved favorably enough, the arithmetic may show a positive result. If not, the same method makes both outcomes lose. Rounding the second stake also makes the two displayed results differ slightly.

ScenarioSecond stakeOriginal winsOpposite wins
No hedge$0.00$200.00-$100.00
Equal result$150.00$50.00$50.00

The two listed outcomes must cover exactly the same market

This model assumes the original and opposite bets are mutually exclusive, exhaustive and settle under compatible rules. A football win market with a possible draw, different overtime treatment, a changed handicap, a partial cash-out or a remaining multi-leg position does not fit that assumption. A suspended price may also disappear before the second stake is accepted.

  • Match the exact event, market, line, participants and settlement wording.
  • Confirm the full second stake can be accepted at the entered price.
  • Account for commission, taxes, deductions, stake limits and rounding outside this model.
  • Do not place more money solely because the calculated minimum result looks positive.
  • Compare the increased total outlay with your pre-set entertainment budget.

Hedge bet calculator questions

How is an equal-result hedge stake calculated?

For a simple two-outcome market, multiply the original stake by its decimal odds, then divide by the current decimal odds on the opposite outcome. This makes the modeled gross return equal on either side before settlement differences, commission or deductions.

Does hedging always lock in a profit?

No. If the two entered prices and required total outlay are unfavorable, balancing the outcomes locks in a loss. Even a positive modeled result depends on both bets being accepted at the entered prices and settling under compatible rules.

Can this calculator model a parlay's final leg?

Only when the remaining position can be represented as one original gross return versus exactly one mutually exclusive and exhaustive opposite outcome. It does not model multiple remaining legs, a draw, push, void, partial settlement or correlated markets.

Is a sportsbook cash-out offer the same as a hedge?

No. A cash-out value is an optional operator offer with its own pricing and availability. This calculator models a separate opposite-side fixed-odds wager and does not estimate or validate a Luckly.gg cash-out value.

Why compare a custom hedge stake?

A smaller or larger second stake shifts the result between the two outcomes. The comparison helps reveal that reducing one loss usually gives up some profit on the original side and increases total money committed.
